on May 1, 2006 several thousands immigrants and their supporters marched and rallied in downtown Boston as part of the "National Day of Action" as part of "Great American Boycott 2006". Over 60 demonstrations took place throughout the country the largest being in New York City and Los Angeles. Several hundred trade unionists rallied in Post Office Square at a protest called by SEIU L. 615 and UNITE/HERE L. 26. Following the rally there was an impromptu march to the Statehouse led by USWA L. 8751, Boston School Bus Drivers and the Boston Rosa Parks Committee. At the Statehouse there was another rally followed by a march to the Boston Common to participate in a rally organized by a coalition of organizations.
